this is a discussion within the NFL Community Forum; I noticed this during the game. Make no mistake, Jones was wrong, but, Porter did provoke it. The late penalty that doomed the Bengals was provoked by a Steelers coach illegally on the field - SBNation.com...

Re: Why was Porter on the field?
NFL Pfishing...and Jones was stupid enough to take the bait. The Steelers weren't better or dirtier, just smarter.
I've lived in Cinci for nearly 25 years. During that time The Bungles have fielded probably the largest contingent of criminals, delinquents and now idiots in the NFL. Not too many years ago the running joke was the team photo was taken at Hamilton County jail. Burfict is just one more mug shot for the lineup. His 2015 highlight reel of cheap shots should get him banned from the game. |

Re: Why was Porter on the field?
That was just sad. They had the game. They won the game. They beat themselves.

Re: Why was Porter on the field?
The Bengals are the modern day Raiders. However Porter should not have been on the field he should have been flagged.

Re: Why was Porter on the field?
The Bengals are a dirty and undisciplined team. They're a bunch of hotheads. Have been that way for years. They are a kinda interesting franchise, because at 0-7 in the playoffs, what they really ought to do is consider blowing the whole thing up and trying a different approach, with most of the pieces they already have. It just ain't working for 'em! But they won't get anywhere serious, until they change the whole culture there, like Payton did here in 2006....
Marvin Lewis is one of those shady questionable guys. Now he maybe doesn't actively go out and encourage or instruct his people to be dirty, but he sure as heck doesn't cultivate any integrity or character in his players or in the locker room, and he sure knows how to bury his head in the sand or look the other way when they DO act like goons. |

Re: Why was Porter on the field?
I would still take their D over ours. Brees could ease into retirement with 3 rings.
