We preach good sportsmanship. To our kids. From the moment they're old enough to play (and with good parents even before). Cam embodies precisely the opposite.

Sure, he is who he is. He also isn't who he isn't. For example, he's not a NFL passer. Without his run game he melted, as pretty much anyone here already knew and Wade Phillips so gloriously exposed. He melted, very publicly. That's his problem.

Anyone making excuses for that kind of behavior is fooling themselves maybe, but not me. I was brought up to respect people, and few things are more disrespectful than poor sportsmanship.

Next time Newton whines about respect, somebody should remind him you have to give to receive. The bigger they are, (gloriously) the harder they fall.

Damn off-season is here were really stretching for material to talk about.
At the end of the day the Carolina QB goes home to his million plus home and for him it's just another day at the Office.
However the Carolina QB put up a major smoke screen at the press conference after the game so that no one asked why he ran away from the fumble.
But Tuesday the Carolina QB did finally come up with this contorted excuse.

"I didn’t dive on one fumble because the way my leg was (positioned)," Newton told reporters in Charlotte on Tuesday. "It could have been contorted in a way. You say my effort? I didn’t dive down. I fumbled - that’s fine. That’s fine. We didn’t lose the game because of that fumble.”

The only problem I have with talking about Cam, is that it's seemingly all that's going on right now. But I think most of what has been said is valid.

Those who defend him are consistently missing the point. It's not about how he feels. I'm not going to tell anyone how to feel about anything. It's about how you display those emotions publicly. If you need to vent privately with people you trust, by all means do so. But someone in his situation is in a position of privilege. You're held to that higher standard for good reason. And for all you might wanna say about how everyone gets frustrated, we have NEVER seen that kind of behavior after a superbowl loss before. So why is that?

Maybe there is something going on behind the scenes with other players, but you know what? Even if that is the case, at least they are handling it PRIVATELY as they should. Let's not act like Cam is the first person to be criticized either. We've been hearing about Johnny Manziel non stop for the last two years, and we talk about countless other prima donna's.

Sure we do things we regret. I'm not here to tell anyone that I'm perfect. I do my best to right my wrongs, and I hear about it when I do something wrong, just like anyone else. But does it look to you like Cam regrets anything he did? Did you hear what he had to say the other day about his actions? He's convinced he's justified. And this, as we all know, is not his first go around of publicly embarrassing himself. When there's a pattern AND a refusal to acknowledge it, much less change it, you get the kind of criticism he is getting.
