NFL Ratings Continue to Plunge in Third Week of National Anthem Protests

For the third consecutive week, ratings for the National Football League (NFL) have plummeted, as players continue anti-American protests during the playing of the national anthem. This week’s drop-off also coincided with the Monday broadcast of the first presidential debate between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton.
Ratings for Sunday Night Football featuring the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys scored a 12.9 Nielsen rating, down from the game’s 13.7 rating last week. Week two, in turn, was down from week one’s 13.9 rating, according to Sports Business Daily. Ratings also dropped more than they did during week three a year ago for the slate of midday regional games, falling by 18 percent.

Monday Night Football performed even worse. Monday’s game between the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints received a low 5.7 rating, a 38 percent plunge from week three of last year.

Good, I stopped watching non-Saint games and the protests were a big reason why, among others

Re: NFL Ratings Continue to Plunge in Third Week of National Anthem Protests

I watch fantasy stats now. First year playing it. Thought I would not like it but actually enjoy it more than the games. Like this weekend, even though the Saints lost I still won my game and I did it with players from the Saints and the Falcons. I had to drop Snead, add Thomas, and add the Falcons kicker. I also know more about other teams now. Way more than watching games. I also added Tyrell Pryor on instinct and he had an amazing weekend. Still sorry as hell the Saints loss but the pain is not nearly as bad as it use to be.

The ratings would indicate that a lot of people care. As was predicted by many of us.

The players are going to continue to get what they deserve as long as they do this crap.

Goodell took a strong position on the issue. He said he supports the players that protest. And he denied the Cowboys request to wear a sticker on their helmet honoring the memory of the cops killed in Dallas. He is the face of the NFL.

Any backlash the NFL receives falls squarely on his shoulders.

I could see why our game dropped in ratings. Most folks were watching reality TV which appears to be a new series........................................

Goodell has been a problem from day one of his reign. This one is every bit as much on the players. This is their idea, regardless of whether or not Goodell supports them. They, along with Roger, can all hit the trail out of this country, as far as I'm concerned.
