Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
How are they going to get around the Rooney Rule?
"The Rooney Rule is a National Football League policy that requires league teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs." Jon Gruden expected to become next coach of Oakland Raiders |

I don't get it. Why.

Re: Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
they are offering Chucky a piece of ownership....
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ |
Re: Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
Gifting partial ownership could lead to conflicts of interest and turn out to be a huge mistake. The league shouldn't allow it to begin with, but who knows with Goodell's schizophrenic approach.

Re: Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
THANK GOD!
Now i don't have to listen to that bastard on MNF. Plus, he's not that good of a coach. I see this like us hiring Ditka. Gonna be a big mistake. |
Re: Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
Dumbest move I've seen in years. Worse then anything the Browns have done in a decade.

Re: Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
It's not so terribly bad of a move if you consider the season ticket sales, branding, merch and jersey sales, TV visibility, PR, and the eventual high-profile move to Vegas. But as a coaching move, to win games? Obviously a secondary concern. As others have said, it is a look to the past, and Ditka-esque. But watch closely, I will bet you right now the Raiders get more prime time games and 3 PM "Game of The Week" kickoffs on next year's schedule, more favorable press, and more Raiders players in commercials and endorsements, than they've had for a very long time. Not sure how he'll fare with the X's and O's of the game, but look for Gruden to dominate the media, pump the sponsorship/endorsement angles, and work the league front office like a stud.
