The Rooney rule is a slap in the face to any self-respecting man. If you are worthy of consideration they'll find you, and they'll bring you in. If a team wants a particular guy, let them do what they want. It's not racist to hire a white guy. Gruden's a guy who's already coached there and won a super bowl with another team. He's a known commodity (even if he's been away from coaching for a while) as opposed to bringing another guy, black or white, with no track record. I see nothing wrong with that.

If people want to complain about the Raiders, they should be asking why they fired Del Rio one year after he took them to the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. But they wanted Gruden bad enough. So let them do what they want.

The NBA and MLB have plenty of minority coaches without needing some ham-fisted rule. Get rid of the Rooney rule.
