I don 't see how this can still be an issue to teams. Just get over it and focus on stuff that matters.

Re: PFT A team asked Derrius Guice if he likes men
Perhaps, there was some misinterpretation. Maybe the dude asking was interested in having a relationship with him?

It could be to test the players, see if they blabber to the media about trivial things which he did.

Re: PFT A team asked Derrius Guice if he likes men
I heard some horror stories about what they ask. Today I heard someone mentioned they asked Dez Bryant if his mom was a prostitute. I feel bad even typing those words wth kind of ? is that?!

Re: PFT A team asked Derrius Guice if he likes men
I think that is the whole point IMO. Make it somewhat not appropriate. Picking an employee that is going to tattle tale on every single issue in a company no matter how small is going to be a problem. These things go on at most companies. Am I going to tattle on someone at work for asking if I'm gay? No. It's stupid and not worth my time. I can be trusted somewhat to not create drama at work which is a big problem in the NFL right now. If a player is very sensitive to that stuff they are going to cause problems.

Look, you're about to pay, in many cases, several millions of dollars for an athlete not only to perform and contribute to wins, but represent your team to your fanbase. And a fanbase is hard cash paying customers that buy tickets, concessions, and jerseys... Personnel men have a fiduciary responsibility to their teams to secure players who will not be a distraction, can perform their duties, and appealing to the fan base... Because the truth is, more than half this country may tolerate those who choose alternate lifestyles, but they do not accept them in the mainstream of life... |
