Richard Sherman expresses “concern” Eric Reid remains unsigned
Eric Reid has not found any takers on the free agent market, and he believes he knows why. New 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman, who served as the Seahawks’ player representative, expressed concern about Reid’s slow market.
“We are concerned, because he played at a high level for just about every year that he’s played in this league,” Sherman said, via quotes distributed by the team. “He’s made enough plays to be signed with a team and to make his money. He deserves his money. Safeties make a certain amount. I would think he’s top-five, top-10 safeties in this league so he deserves to be paid accordingly. So, there is concern there, because you would think a player of his caliber and his quality would be picked up by now. I think great teams are still looking and people are still looking for players. I’m praying that he gets picked up, but if he doesn’t, then I think there will be a conversation with the league office and the union on potential league action.” Richard Sherman expresses “concern” Eric Reid remains unsigned – ProFootballTalk | |

Uuhh, top 5-10? Isn't this the same guy who the whiners decided they should try at LB? Didn't he also have some injury last year? Hasn't the safety market been incredibly slow this year anyway? I didn't read the article, I'm assuming he wants to relate it to Reid's support for crappernick. I doubt that has much to do with it Richie, if anything. The guy simply hasn't lived up to expectations. People are always looking for a reason to be offended. Just stfu and play football.

Re: Richard Sherman expresses “concern” Eric Reid remains unsigned
I suspect that owners have come to the realization that Reid's talent isn't worth the distraction...and distractions loose games.
That's the issue with entertainers, and football players are nothing more than entertainers. They want free speech, take controversial positions, etc. That is a right that they have. Well, owners and fans also have a right to free speech and where we spend our money is a form of free speech. There are actors and singers I don't support financially. So, Reid and associates can continue speaking their minds via their protests and fans and owners will as well via our pocketbooks. If you polled fans I would say the vast majority agreed with the players position on the issue but not with how they addressed it. |

If Reid decides to stop his protest now i think he does loads of damage to the point he was making. I don't personally have a issue with non violent protest but if you stop it seemingly because its taking money out your pocket you do damage your cause.

Sherman has been smoking the sherm way to much. He thinks his opinion matters. Reid may his choice and is paying for his dedication to his protest and that's a price he must be willing to pay unless his protest was just grandstanding at which point he's just plain stupid!

Take a knee on the sideline, and you can stay on the sideline - Reid's overrated and not worth the distraction...
Got an issue, no problem, respect your right to be heard - just do it on YOUR time and dime, not on your employer's or customer's time and dime... |
