this is a discussion within the NFL Community Forum; He should do whatever he can to maximize his earnings. I damn sure wouldn’t be worried about honoring contracts where all my money isn’t guaranteed. Hopefully he forces his way out of the NFC South....

Careers end every day. I see no problem with him trying to get more money from the billion dollar organization he plays for. He’s he best player on that team by far.

I fully expect Julio to be suited up and ready to go by game 1 of the regular season. Arthur Blank will find a way to make his super star happy... again.
Again, players should consider signing shorter contracts if they want to control their future earnings. |

They want the security too. That’s why the contracts should be fully guaranteed.

Bird called it The Big Mo referring to players that shut it down once paid; later it became the Roger Dorn Effect (i.e. Major League)... What makes more sense is an average market standardizing of performance-based incentives, bonuses pay tied to the salary cap/television revenue... Performance-based would be tied to things like games/snaps played, Team W.A.R. statistics (team success with player contributing), and individual stats... Not as weighted - pro-bowls, all-pro/mvp honors as those honors are often unfairly skewed to larger, favorable NFL markets (the same ole 10 teams)... At the end of the day, Julio signed a contract, took his up-front money and spent it and it's on him to be responsible with his money... Same as a contractor, electrician, plumber, mason, mechanic, painter quoting a rate - they have to honor an agreed rate, so should football players... For what it's worth, Falcons felt they're playing it smart and not allowing one of their top players become a distraction - but they're screwed long-term in negotiations... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
