If this happens the NFL is dead to me and I will never watch it again. Nor will I buy anything NFL related.

Can't wait to not watch. Ratings will do a Greg Luganious into a jagged cliff.

But, yes, TV numbers will continue to decrease as the technology drives more and more dedicated fans to other ways of viewing the sport that they love. This is all supported by easily researched information. Here is a Forbes article that explains the decline and how it is not related to interest, but rather technology. The NFL's Ratings Probably Will Continue To Decline "For one thing, the NFL’s viewership also fell in 2016. Moreover, linear TV watching is on the decline because of the rising numbers of cord cutters among other reasons. The audience for the Super Bowl fell last year to its lowest level since 2009 though the game was one of the most exciting I have seen in years. Even the World Series, which went to seven games, posted a year-over-year viewership slump. The Oscars had its smallest audience in history this year while the Tonys saw a slight year-over-year bump in its viewership thanks to having Bruce Springsteen as a headliner. Unfortunately, viewership was still down when compared with 2016 when Hamilton swept the awards." All types of measured viewership is down and none of the others can claim to be because of some supposed protest protesters. If it makes a few of you feel all warm and fuzzy by tuning out ... then by all means. The rest of the world will continue to tune in however possible to keep watching the game that they love and enjoy it for what it is ... entertainment. 19-0 Baby! ![]() |
