Fantasy Football industry is confirming participation is down 20-30% and that's with banking on a big upswing week before games start.

Too bad for them. Welcome to the rest of the COVID-19 world.

That said, only down 20-30% is far better than most other industries. It appears they will weather it better than most. Thanks for the good news, Beast!

I would watch, but I didn't renew my NFL Gamepass subscription... yet.

I'm still pissed off that they made it free for everyone because of corona, but wouldn't refund any of the subscription cost for those who had paid for it.

It's just the priciple of it, not the actual money.

Fantasy football does not require that you do anything but have a computer. The fact that so many people have nothing to do, should mean that fantasy participation is up.

You'll spin anything. I'm convinced someone could set your house on fire and, lest you allow the perpetrator to feel he has won, you'd shout "this isn't a fire... And you just wasted your gas and matches on my house; joke's on you!".

No spin at all, metal. I've been extremely involved with fantasy football for over 25 years. I've been in as many as nine in a single season. Down to three this year including the B&G league. The draft for that league is Monday. Also a member of fantasy football forums and Facebook groups. The fact is that quite a few leagues have taken the year off because of the uncertainty involved. You can choose to believe whatever you wish. I am in a 48 team experts legacy league that only lost one owner this off-season and that was due to personal health issues. Surprisingly we usually have to replace two or three in a normal year. The biggest issue is concerning dues and payouts and how that would be handled if the season is cut short. For some it simply isn't worth the hassle, I suppose.

By the way, my username comes from an old fantasy site called FantasyAsylum.com. We moved to a new site and the username Guido was already taken so I added Asylum to the front to differentiate.

Had the same thing happen to me with MLB.TV, they charged my CC for the subscription then declined to reimburse until months later...

Then I got a pro-rated refund, it still was less than a third of the season...

Two weeks later one of my former protege' that worked for me as a youngster told me he got the remainder of the reduced season (he'd only missed two weeks of games) for less than half for what I paid...

When renewal comes up for it in the spring, I'm going to request a loyalty discount for having stuck with them of 50%, and record the discussion via emails...

Another thing that annoys me about the Gamepass isbthe fact that their android smart TV app is broken in that it shows the gamescores even though I've selected it to not do that.

Wouldn't be a big deal if I'm watching them live, but I usually watch the later games the day after because of the time difference to Finland.

That would be a pain in the ass.

My wife just heard today that her work money based league is going ahead. They are usually set up well before now, but that means, once again, she's drafting in her room and I'm drafting in mine at the same time Monday night in our B&G league. You can't bring down fantasy football. Us nerds are not controlled by politics.

LOL!

Nobody said it was going down. Just a cut in participation by 20-30% which is what people in the industry are saying so don't shoot the messenger.

Next year probably back up but the NFL will have to stop attacking police and military. They themselves are not 100% perfect with hunt, rae caruth, Ingram's Dad, Sharper. Maybe just don't beat your fist demanding other organizations to be perfect when they themselves have a lot of deuchebaggery every single year. More than just about any sport.

Yup. My response was more directed toward the other one.

Well you luck to you and your much much better half. I hope she wins.

I hope we both win. Different leagues this year. And you are correct, my much much better half. She's a feisty redhead and keeps me on my toes after 32 years. Married up for sure.

Guido, telling me that you are in 300 fantasy leagues is a non-sequitur to the point I made. There is no reason for "uncertainty" surrounding fantasy football. You don't have to leave your house to play it. And if you sign up, and the season somehow gets canceled, nothing is lost.

You are unilaterally deciding that the reason participation is down is because of uncertainty. I'm calling BS. Because that IS BS. You don't even have to believe that the drop is due to politics. But don't tell me it's because of coronavirus. That's absurd.
