There was a very good article years back in the Times-Picayune that talked about the Superdome and all the stadiums that were built in that same time frame. I think Arrowhead might be the only one remaining besides the Dome. I would love to see a follow up on it.
It mentioned that both New Orleans and Kansas City were ahead of the times. New Orleans because they built a downtown domed stadium when everyone else was building stadiums way outside the city. Then downtown stadiums became the rage. Kansas City because when other cities were building two sport stadiums, they built a dedicated football and a dedicated baseball stadium right across from each other. That two sport thing didn't last. |

Wouldn't mind seeing the NFL mandate domes for teams upgrading their stadiums.
Especially the cold region teams where Fans are sitting in 20 degree weather for 3 hours just waiting on a bout with Pneumonia. |
