Mardi Gras Party Questions
Hey Guys,
I'm a former New Orleans native and I live in Virginia now. I was thinking of throwing a Mardi Gras party to introduce folks up here to New Orleans culture. I'll probably mix up a pot of jambalaya and maybe some red beans and rice and give away some beads. Of course the drinks will flow freely. Now a couple of questions: 1. If I order a king cake, what are some good places to order from? 2. I was thinking it would be cool to show a mardi gras parade on my tv during the party. I know there are some sites where you can stream the parades live and I could hook my laptop up to my tv, but the problem is that I don't think any parades will be happening at night (either Fat Tuesday itself or the Saturday before). I looked at a parade schedule online and the latest ones were starting at 5:30 (which is 4:30 Eastern). The party will probably start at 7:00 or 8:00 Eastern. 3. Any other suggestions? Thanks! |

Re: Mardi Gras Party Questions
My sister and brother-in-law order their king cakes from Haydel's Bakery. She says they are the best.
Haydel's Bakery Deadwood has their version of Mardi Gras, so we go up there every year. Not nearly as exciting as the real thing, but when you live in South Dakota, you don't have many options. |
