In Louisiana, Llano is pronounced "Lano." In Texas its "Yanno." It was short for Llano Estacado, which means "staked plain," as Indians placed stakes in the ground to keep from getting lost. The plain was so huge and full of nothing, that you could just get lost for absolute lack of landmarks. Kinda like driving on I-49 north of Alexandria. |
