The figure Im getting from AP, is now 4 million gallons. Not that I consider AP a credible news source. As a media insider, I've seen complete garbage come off their wire, and I can tell you some of their
field reporters are little more than college kids. The update today is that they've moved the new smaller containment structure near the well, and are double-checking the configurations, and expect to lower the structure tomorrow. They're going to pump warm water and methanol to prevent the ice crystals that stopped the last containment dome. The dome will be connected to a ship by a pipe within a pipe, and I guess the ship will relay the oil to other ships. I have not kept up with what they're doing on the surface, since the last reports over the weekend of booms, burning, and dispersants being used. Lets pray for that containment dome to line up right and work... If they can stop it now, perhaps summer can be salvaged for some of those affected. |
