Psychedelic Furs at House of Blues
Clocking in at a sharp turning point in pop-cultural history, the Psychedelic Furs' 1981 album Talk Talk Talk captures the proto-English post-punk band in transition as well, from concealed but half-****ed Sax Pistols on 1980's eponymous Columbia debut to the prettified, John Hughes-cast hopeless romantic it played, dutifully but to diminishing returns, as the hairsprayed decade went up in flames. Launching from New Orleans, this 30th anniversary summer tour ? in which the Furs, who reunited around Talk Talk Talk's 20th anniversary in 2001, are performing the album from start to finish ? holds more promise than the typical LP birthday party, and for reasons other than to hear 55-year-old Richard Butler sneer, "I won't give you flowers/ I just want to sleep with you."?
