Anatomical fact dictates that San Francisco duo The Dodos has, at most, only eight appendages at its disposal at a time. This is worth remembering when listening to anything off the band's four albums, a quad-plotted octopus' garden overgrown with multi-limbed dexterity: pounding, West Africa-influenced polyrhythmic percussion; uncommonly powerful, blues-based acoustic guitar, a blur of scraped strums and finger picks; the incessantly jingling bells of 10 tambourines.?
