LSU to lose hundreds of millions in Medicaid funding

The Jindal administration today detailed its plan to cut Medicaid programs for the 2012-2013 fiscal year, following the recent passage of a federal transportation bill which, on the one hand, included the Restore Act but, on the other, "corrects" the state's federal Medicaid funding rate, resulting in $650 million in losses over the next two years.


The loss of the federal money, combined with cuts in state matching funds, means a total cut of about $859 million for Louisiana Medicaid this year, with LSU Hospitals accounting for more than $300 million, reports Bill Barrow in The Times-Picayune.
