why would u ban political topics on here. i can definitely understand it in the football forum without a doubt but what if somone posted it in the general topics forum. im only asking because in your post you said in this forum or any other forum when talking about banning folks. this is in regards to the whodat post on benson and your dear govenor.
now i dont really care one way or the other bvecause i dont talk politics on here and never visit the other forum at all. but why would that be off limits in the general topics forum? please let me know. no argument here just curious. i'd like to see your reasoning.

I disagree with you, Gator. I have had plenty of interesting and challenging political and social discussions with other members of this board - many of whom disagreed with my POV.

Those types of discussions are certainly good for us who get a little bored during the offseason lulls, but still want to talk with our buddies here at B&G. Obviously, the appropriate place is in the Everything Else forum.

The description to that forum says that rules will be lax and that really only cursing and the like will be edited. I think it should remain that way and political conversation should be allowed there.

I think the EE forum\'s description is warning enough to those that enter that they might get treated disrespectfully which does not take away from the main point of this site, but, instead, gives those who want to flame each other a place to go that is out of the way for most of the visitors to this site.

I know the owner makes the rules, but essentially we are customers here and that at minimum gives us a right to complain and make suggestions - not that anyone has to listen.

I agree with Scotty here - and having had one of those political debates with Scotty in the offseason, I know that they can be done cordially if people are respectful and realize that two intelligent and educated people can simply disagree. Scotty and I discussed gay marriage and abortion. Not exactly light topics - and we disagreed, and it was one of the better conversations I\'ve had on this board.

Certainly political talk has no place in the football board. Ultimately, Halo makes the rules here and what he says goes. But like Scotty, up until recently, it was my understanding that anything went on the EE board so long as it was blatantly offensive and posted with only the intent to offend. That\'s the slant I used as a Mod of that board.

This also isn\'t exactly a cut and dry issue. For example, I got the slap on the wrist from Halo for using the War in Iraq as an analogy to illustrate a point specifically about the condition of the Saints. However, there are entire threads in the football forum right now about Governor Blanco and why women shouldn\'t be governors. Apparently, b/c of the issues between the Saints and the State, this is OK. It\'s not exactly cut and dry. Either way, I agree with Scotty. The other board is aptly name EVERYTHING Else.
