Tonight: "National Moment of Silence" in Lafayette Square
Tonight, a National Moment of Silence will host vigils to honor victims of police brutality at dozens of cities across the country. In New Orleans, organizers will meet at 6 p.m. at Lafayette Square.
Organizers ask participants to wear a red ribbon or piece of cloth or bandana on the right arm, and people can follow events via the hashtag #NMOS14 on Twitter and Facebook.
The vigil follows the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in the St. Louis, Missouri suburb of Ferguson on Aug. 9 at the hands of a police officer ? and the ensuing protests, rallies and aggressive police action ? as well as the death of* Ezell Ford in Los Angeles*on Aug. 11.? [ Read more ]
