Shaya (4213 Magazine St., 504-891-4213), chef*Alon Shaya?s*Israeli stunner, has been named the Best New Restaurant in America 2015 by Esquire magazine.*

The announcement was published online Oct. 13, and*Ted Allen writes that this year?s winner came from "...of all places, New Orleans,? before delving into praise for Shaya?s pomegranate-lacquered lamb.*The list of 14 restaurants were picked, in part, by Esquire?s esteemed food writer Josh Ozersky, who died in May. *

Allen writes:
