With all the New Orleans breweries popping up (Urban South, Second Line*Brewing) and in planning stages (Wayward Owl*Brewing Company, Brieux Carre*Brewing Company, Parleaux Beer Lab, Port Orleans Brewing Company), it can be easy to forget the brewery that has been instrumental to the recent growth of the beer scene.

NOLA Brewing Company (3001 Tchoupitoulas St., 504-896-9996; nolabrewing.com) opened in 2009 and has grown quicker than anyone thought it would, expanding its beer selection, opening a two-story taproom and starting the city?s first alternative fermentation program for sour and funky beers.
