The world lost a great one on 04/02. I'm not a Catholic, or even that religious for that matter, but John Paul II was a good man who stood by his convictions till the end. He'll be sorely missed by very many, the faithful and secular alike. Godspeed to the only Pontiff I've ever known... |

You know, I\'m not a religious person at all. In fact, I\'m probably closer to being an atheist than anything else. But I can recognize that a great human being has died. Pope John Paul II was not only the leader of the Catholic Church, he was a leader in the global struggle for peace.
I certainly didn\'t agree with all of his policies, but I can respect him for his quest for human rights. Leaders of the Jewish and Muslim faiths along with non-Catholic denominations of Christians have offered their sympathy on his passing to the 1 billion followers of the Catholic church. I think they realized that he was not \"just a man.\" Nobody said he was God. I didn\'t read that anywhere. Did you? John Paul II was a man, but not \"just a man.\" He was an inspiration to many people, and he aspired to help make this sometimes horrible world in which we live a better place. What have you done? I don\'t know why you felt it necessary to even post that comment. In my opinion, it was insensitive and unnecessary. I\'ll just leave it at that. |

im sorry did i offend thee. um im pretty sure that what i was referring to all the people who stand outside as if he is some IDLE. he is a man nothing more. he just heads a multi billion maybe trillion a year buisness.
you want to remember someone remember the poor mother theresa who gave everything. she had nothing. she gave it all up to help others. thats a GREAT person. i dont want to hear about the great pope and all his money. oh wait everyone is leaving that part out. what i have done sir is not take money from anyone. i havent led a \" religion\" to obtain money. thats what i have done. i have provided for people that have asked me for food. i have bought them food. i do not ask for money so i can live in a huge building in which i then speak as god from. open your eyes. understand. dont allow everyone else to influence you. reach your own opinion. dont put on a bumper sticker because everyone else is doing it. be who you are. |

Do you live in a house? Perhaps you should sell it and move into a tent in the park so you\'ll be able to help more homeless people.

Now let me say that you must have missed the entire point of my post. I have already stated that I am not a proponent of any religion. I am not trying to defend the Catholic church or any other organization. Pope John Paul II strove for peace in the world as did Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, and Ghandi. For that, he is revered by many people. I don\'t think anybody thinks he is GOD, and I\'m sure he never claimed to be. I know this is a public forum, but I just don\'t think there was any reason to post those comments. Especially since you are making statements that are outrageous claims of deification that haven\'t occured. However, I believe in freedom of speech. turbo i resect your opinion. people can meet in a park to praise god. they can meet in each others homes. the only reason to meet in a church is to be able to collect funds from as many people as possible. religion does not have to be dealt out at a church.
i think you made my argument for me when you said how many people visit graceland every year. that was exactly my argument to you. i do not think of him as a terrible man. i dont dislike him. i do think there is a problem when people come together and make a man of religion into an idle. it as if he has become who they worship. i have a problem with all organized religion. not the belief in god just organized religion. they are the reason for a lot of the evil in this world. in the past and still today. i was raised catholic. i dont practice. i try to keep my faith to myself and have my own relationship with god. if everyone in the world would respect that i think there would be far fewer problems. but religions are about power. as far as the president he represents a nation not christ or god. my point to you is this, christ attacked the church and the high priest. he attacked the idea that the poor and the maim were outcast. instead he embraced them. i look at the church in the same light. if that offends you or anyone else i dont care. i was attacked for calling him a man. think about that. |

also when i am talking about the people coming together im not talking about those people paying their respects. im talking about when he visits a country like lets say the u.s. people come out as if he is a celebrity.
