Report: Louisiana one of nation's most 'food insecure' states
![]() Working adults, children and seniors in Louisiana have some of the nation's highest rates of 'food insecurity,' according to a November analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data by the advocacy group Hunger Free America. The report, which looked at supplemental data from the Census' Current Population Survey, found that 20.1 percent of Louisianans were considered food insecure by the federal government between 2014-2016, a condition defined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as having "limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods."? |
