Krewe du Vieux 2018: Sewerage & Water Board, John Besh get roasted in satirical parade
Twelfth Night, the sudden inevitability of king cake and the Phunny Phorty Phellows' streetcar ride may be the official harbingers of Carnival, but Krewe du Vieux ? the rude little amuse-bouche to the first weekend of big parades ? really kicks the Mardi Gras season into gear.
Last night's parade of KdV's various subkrewes, all of which rolled under the umbrella of "Bienville's Wet Dream" (in honor of the city's upcoming tricentennial), was fortunate not to be a real wet dream; fears of rain delayed the parade by 30 minutes, but the only thing in the air was a light fog, a whiff of weed, the sounds of marching bands and the occasional whoops of woo-girls.
Under the cut: a slideshow of images and a recap.
