New Orleans record stores celebrate Record Store Day 2018
Record stores worldwide open their doors for the 11th annual Record Store Day on Saturday, April 21, with dozens*of limited edition releases, reissues and other exclusive singles and full lengths. New Orleans stores getting some of those releases and throwing daylong parties are*Euclid Records, Louisiana Music Factory, The Mushroom, NOLA Mix Records, Peaches Records, Sisters in Christ, Skully'z Recordz and The White Roach. Among New Orleans-centric releases are History of Soul's New Orleans Soul '67 compilation and a 10-inch picture disc featuring the Wynton Marsalis Septet with Willie Nelson for "Night Life" and "I'm Gonna Find Another You." Other releases of note: a*40th anniversary reissue of Chris Bell's "I Am The Cosmos" and "You And Your Sister" single, Parquet Courts' "Mardi Gras Beads" and "Seems Kind of Silly" 7-inch, a*box set from Run the Jewels (who are also this year's Record Store Day ambassador ), Beat Happening covers from Mac DeMarco and Shamir, and Brian Eno and Kevin Shields' "The Weight of History" and "Only Once Away My Son."? |
