New Orleans City Council calls for end to 'un-American and inhumane' immigration policy
![]() After defending the separation of migrant children from their families at U.S. borders,*U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and*Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen appeared in New Orleans June 18 to speak at the*National Sheriff's Association's annual meeting, where they received a standing ovation from law enforcement inside*the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center as protesters gathered outside. The New Orleans City Council denounced the DHS mandate at its June 7 meeting ? and this morning, the body announced plans to issue a formal resolution demanding DHS put an "end to the un-American and inhumane" policy and calling on U.S. officials to work to reunite families.? |
