Does it bother anyone.....
Does it bother anyone else that the NBA is openly referring to the "New Orleans Hornets" as the "Oklahoma City Hornets"? I'm not even really an NBA fan, but it sure seems like a slap in the face to the state.

RE: Does it bother anyone.....
Not really... NOK Hornets is what they are being called. In my opinion, the team will permanently relocate there. Good basketball town and should get lots of support. Attendance in New Orleans for the Hornets was horrible anyways. Eventually down the road, I think they would have had to relocate anyways. The hurricane only jump started the process.

I thought the attendence figures were respectable.
Well, if I'd have to pick, I would much rather see them leave than the Saints. I agree with you that I didn't see the team lasting more than 5 years. |

I think the attendance was bad the last year because the team was completely dismantled and fans just didn't know or understand the team. I agree with Papz, unfortunately I think they'll be headed to OK City. Their numbers for the season are over the top. This ownership really is interested in just that and that's about it.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying. I hear alot of talk, both from the NBA and the team that they have no intention of moving the team, but it does seem inevitable. The OK numbers are hard to ignore, but to be fair, they are first year numbers. Remember, the Hornets had real good numbers the first season in NO. But I don't believe the city is large enough to support two pro teams (even before Katrina), and my first choice, by far, would be to keep the Saints over the Hornets.

I think they tore the team apart Halo because they moved to a different division and had to make some changes. Not sure if they will return |

Have you guys attended a Hornets game while they were in New Orleans? Trust me on this... the amount of tickets sold and people who actually attend the games are a completely different story. Don't let those numbers fool you. We have trouble supporting one sports team, a move was inevitable for the Hornets.

Besides, I can't even see the games. Are they coming on Cox anymore? If they are I don't know if I'd want to watch them. I was completely spoiled the first season with Cox cable. The games were fun, but Papz is right, unfortunately we may be doomed. I'm more concerned about the Saints. I still think they may be doomed too. Does anyone else see the big picture on this? New Orleans rebuilding efforts are not exactly getting good press. |

I'm sure the Hornets won't last long in New Orleans, but stop and think...they were on the verge of pitiful their first season here. Last season, they sunk into the abyss of pathetic. This year, their youth are playing with some fire. Chris Paul is showing everyone that he should've been the number one pick in the draft. This kid is going to be something special. Byron Scott is one helluva coach and had turned that team around to play respectable. Maybe if they continue to improve, the Hornets may stay in New Orleans a bit longer. Who knows?
