Posted by dtatum
August 10, 2007 2:51PM The Hornets announced Friday that they will play eight preseason games prior to their Oct. 31 season opener vs. Sacramento. The preseason schedule includes two games at the New Orleans Arena. The team will host the Indiana Pacers on Monday, Oct. 15 and the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, Oct. 24 (both games will tip off at 7 p.m.). "We are excited to have our fans get re-acquainted with the Hornets game night experience, and the preseason is a great way to do that before we tip things off on October 31," said Chad Shinn, Hornets executive officer of the board. "Our two preseason games at the Arena will give our fans a taste of what to expect for our full 41-game schedule this season." In addition to their home preseason games at the New Orleans Arena, the Hornets will also host the Houston Rockets at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City on Oct. 9 and the Charlotte Bobcats at Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem , N.C., on Oct. 26. "Our two out-of-market home games give us the unique opportunity to play in cities with built-in fan interest for the Hornets," Shinn said. " Oklahoma City was the temporary home for the team for the last two years and we'll be able to host a homecoming for Chris Paul at his alma mater of Wake Forest University ." The Hornets will visit Indiana (Oct. 10), Phoenix (Oct. 13) and Dallas (Oct. 21) in their respective home arenas during the preseason. They will also take on Shaquille O'Neal, Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat at Biloxi 's Mississippi Coast Coliseum in what will be the Heat's home game. Information on individual game tickets for Hornets preseason and regular season games will be released later this month. Season tickets are available by calling (504) 525-HOOP or by logging on to Hornets.com. |
