Chris Paul wants out of New Orleans now?
Take this for what its worth
Chris Paul, according to Ken Berger of CBS, hopes to have played his last game for the Hornets and has set into motion a plan to be traded by the start of the upcoming season. His teams of choice are said to be the Knicks, Lakers and Magic, and people close to him have said he has played his last game for the Hornets. A trade to the Lakers would be disastrous for Paul's fantasy value, while a move to the Magic is probably not ideal, either. But if Paul could land in New York this fall, he oould have one of the biggest fantasy seasons we've ever seen from a point guard. Paul recently signed with LeBron James' marketing company, LRMR, which also fuels speculation that he will fight his way out of New Orleans, despite having two years left on his contract. Stay tuned. Speculation? I hope so. But if not, I surely don't blame Chris Paul.
Orlando would be the perfect spot for CP3. He'll be surrounded by young playmakers and shooters as well as a very talented center who CP3 could make the best center in the league. Good luck Chris!! |

Obviously besides the Knicks, none of the teams have the assets to give us a good return. But imagine him on Orlando's team... that's just sick nasty. He could average 20 dimes a night if he wanted to. Howard would end the year shooting over 70% percent and with Redick and Lewis on the wings raining down treys, I think a move there would make them the favorites over the Heat and Lakers.

Re: Chris Paul wants out of New Orleans now?
As a basketball fan, I'd love to see what he could do in Orlando. As much as it would suck to lose Paul, if a trade would improve our overall makeup as a team... especially in the near future, why not? Sure attendance will suck donkey balls and the team will probably move, but Collison showed he's fully capable of running this team. Getting Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, some additional 1st round draft choices will help the Hornets(wherever they might be then), down the road. Signing our new GM from the Spurs was a great move... as they've done a hell of a job drafting and getting players overseas.

I think a trade is more of a done deal than most think. They need to dump okefor's contract as well... It's surely not coincidence with the timing of the hiring of the new gm... the hornets will be the better for it.

Carter's expiring contract would be nice but Peja's is expiring too... he's also on the downside of his career and could possibly eat up some of Thornton's developmental time at SG... though Carter shouldn't have have any problem playing SF. I like Gortat but he'd be a 20 mpg player here backing up West and Okafor(hefty price tag for a backup center). Still, from a player standpoint, it wouldn't be a bad re-coup either. If indeed the Knicks future 1st rounders are allocated elsewhere, then I wouldn't trade CP3 for just Chandler and Randolph... I would be insistent on an additional 2 first in such a deal there.

Re: Chris Paul wants out of New Orleans now?
Personally, I would rather see Nelson start. While I do think Collison will develop into a very good point guard, I would prefer Nelson because of his defense. Carter would most definitely be the starting small forward. He may be on the decline, but he is still a significant upgrade defensively over Peja. And for the same reasons as above, I think Gortat would start over Okafor. Frankly, I believe Gortat will flourish when he no longer has to play second fiddle to Dwight Howard.

Re: Chris Paul wants out of New Orleans now?
While I can see the immediate impact of an Orlando deal, I just don't think it sets us up for the long run. In any deal that we consider, I think we need to focus hard on acquiring young up and coming talent.
You know what I think would be interesting, though Paul definitely wouldn't like it, working something out with Golden State. Getting either Steph Curry or Monta Ellis(more likely) along with Biedrins and possibly Udoh would be a hell of a haul. |
