New Orleans Hornets lose to Detroit Pistons 111-108 in overtime

The Hornets allowed Will Bynum to cut through the middle of the lane for a layup with 7.2 seconds remaining to give the Pistons a 109-108 lead. Then on the ensuing possession, Pistons forward Jason Maxiell knocked a pass away from West at midcourt before grabbing the ball and dunking with five-tenths of a second remaining.

It was the Hornets' fifth consecutive road loss. The Pistons entered having lost eight of their previous 10.

OVERTIME

Ben Gordon hits 3-pointer for the opening points in the extra period. The Hornets have surrendered 11 3-pointers. Pistons up 105-100 after two free throws by Gordon. Hornets have taken a 108-107 lead after a layup by Willie Green, a steal by Trevor Ariza and two free throws from David West. Pistons have possession with 15 seconds remaining.
