Anthony Davis Blocks 2 Different Portland Trail Blazers in 2 Seconds
Stuffing a LaMarcus Aldridge fadeaway is not an act within the realm of physical possibility. Not our realm, at least.
For Anthony Davis, however, it’s an opening course of sorts. The New Orleans Pelicans center left his fingerprints all over Monday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, dropping 31 points and blocking three shots in the 102-93 loss. Two of Davis’ blocks occurred during a dizzyingly absurd sequence in the second quarter. SB Nation’s Mike Prada uploaded a Vine of the play. The 21-year-old packed an Aldridge jumper, deflecting the ball to Wesley Matthews, whom he also packed. Davis then added a dash of paprika to the play by beating everyone down the court—because he’s a fleet-footed squid-stork with zero regard for human life. Throw 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals onto Davis’ stat line, and you’ll see why the sports blogosphere is losing its ever-loving grits over this young man and his development. Here’s a sampling of reaction to Davis’ performance against Portland: We are not worthy. At all. Follow Dan on Twitter for more sports and pop culture filigree.
