Tyreke Evans Trade Rumors: Latest News, Rumors and Speculation on Pelicans SG

The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly listening to offers for shooting guard Tyreke Evans to determine his market value leading up to the trade deadline.

Continue for updates.

Pelicans Currently Gauging Evans' Trade Value

Thursday, Jan. 28

Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops passed along word of the trade talks and noted the 26-year-old guard is scheduled to make $10.2 million next season.

Evans could become one of the most coveted trade chips on the market ahead of the Feb. 18 deadline if the Pelicans are serious about moving him. The 2009 fourth overall pick is averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds this season.

The Memphis product, who was originally drafted by the Sacramento Kings, arrived to the Pelicans as part of a three-team deal ahead of the 2013-14 campaign. He's continued to make a wide-ranging impact, but the team's overall lack of success could lead to changes.

New Orleans is currently 12th in the Western Conference with a 16-28 record. And barring a charge over the next couple of weeks, that could make them sellers at the deadline.

Clearing out the guard logjam in search of a true small forward is the most likely move. Along with Evans, the Pelicans also feature Eric Gordon, Jrue Holiday, Norris Cole and Toney Douglas.

One other factor in play is Evans' surgically repaired right knee. Brett Dawson of the Advocate noted there's been some lingering issues with pain and passed along comments from the guard about trying to start on the court.

"I communicate good with the trainers, let them know how I feel, even though I want to play bad as anything," Evans said. "If I don't play, you know it's really bothering me."

Other teams would obviously want further information about any ongoing concerns before they seriously pursued a trade. But assuming his health isn't a major roadblock, the Pelicans will likely get a lot of calls about him in the coming weeks.

Evans could bring a nice return for New Orleans, with contenders potentially seeing him as the missing piece. The team has enough pieces at the guard spots to fill the void as well.
