Anthony Davis Likely Out vs. Kings with Knee Injury
New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said Anthony Davis will "likely" sit out Thursday's game against the Sacramento Kings due to a knee injury.
Marc J. Spears of ESPN passed along Gentry's comment. Davis, 24, was limited to five minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers after banging knees with Maurice Harkless and Damian Lillard in the early part of the contest. An MRI came back negative, and he's listed as day-to-day. Davis was not walking with a limp after the game, and DeMarcus Cousins said there was hope he would return after halftime. The Pelicans kept their star big out as a precaution and are likely doing the same Thursday night. One of the most talented two-way players in the league when healthy, Davis has an extensive injury history. He's missed at least 14 games in four of his five previous seasons, and missed time due to left knee issues in the past. Spears further added Davis' knee would be "evaluated" later Thursday. The Pelicans play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. His status for that game has not been made available at this time. Read more New Orleans Pelicans news on BleacherReport.com More... |
