The Lions are the Saints of old. I empathize with the fans of that organization. Barry Sanders left in his prime. Calvin Johnson still had a few good years in him before he retired. Now Mathew Stafford. Three of the best at their respective positions for the Lions wanting out because the organization is crap.

I hope that the Saints go with a younger QB if they pick from another team.

Jameis 88 INTS
Stafford 85 INTS

Honestly I wasn't aware Highland Park threw so many picks early on in his career for Detroit.

Would rather have Winston play... I don't care for all of the speculation on who the next QB is. It's either Hill or Winston, I lean Hill only because he is under contract.

If the Saints manage the cap situation, which Loomis has proven he can work magic, then this team can win games. It may be possible to improve year over year... We need to retain our locker-room defensive players.

A while back I felt Stafford was wasting his talent in Detroit. He never really had the players around him offensively and defensively. He is 32 and he wants at least a shot at the super bowl . With the Saints he would get that shot and perhaps a super bowl . It would be a good fit for both parties.

I just got this alert on my phone. It's kind of a head scratcher considering the money being paid to Goff. I don't think Goff is a top 10 QB, but Stafford isn't that much of an upgrade. The Rams problem is McVay just isn't that good of a coach.

It appears Sean McV and someone inside the Rams organization may have lost a lot of confidence in Goff.

He never really impressed me coming out of Cal to be drafted so high. I don't know what the numbers are but the cap hit could be huge for the Lambs if he is released.

I made a similar observation a while back in comparing Winston With Favre. Everyone freaked out about Winston’s 30 int season, When he also threw 33 TDs. Yet Favre had a season of 29 INTs wile only throwing 20 TDs and people hardly said a thing.

Yea they went all in but they are a Qb away from being a real contender. They were knocking on the door every year with Goff and he doesn’t offer much. They are going to need that first in 2023 though.

Last year wasn't good for Goff but the Rams just arn't that great, he is more than serviceable as a QB, at least for now. Stafford is good but not that much better for that cost. Especially as Stafford going to be knocking on the door in 2022 wanting a new deal and giving up that much for him he is going to have them over a barrell for salary demands.

I feel like the Rams have a lot of talent. Their WR corps is great and Cam Akers is a monster who I was hoping we would steal in the later rounds because I knew he would be slept on. He tore it up in Mississippi as a high school QB. Then of course, Donald and Ramsey on defense. They gave up a lot, but LA is a desirable free agency destination.

Sean McVay is the worst playcaller in the NFL. Basically a young Carl Smith. He will wreck Stafford who will get hurt holding onto the ball with no receivers open. Detroit will get two #1 overall picks out of this.

Someone will offer him a deal that we can't compete with, the only hope would be him agreeing a one year deal and cashing in next year with my game time

Which I don't think is such a bad thing, we could be bad for a year or 2, or we could surprise people if other areas step up. But doing that, we get a proper look at if Taysom can improve (I personally think he's hit his ceiling at QB) but then we can have a young QB ready to take over.

Mac Jones has had a few interviews with Saints and throws the ball with nice touch and accuracy.

If other teams are interested in Winston, it leads me more to believe that either a QB Payton likes will slip down to pick 28 or a veteran with upside will be willing to take a friendly contract.

Honestly, I really hope we take another shot at the draft for a QB in 2021. ATM Saints have a 1st, 2nd and a 4th. I don't know the details of the Fontenot/comp picks but I assume that will be a 3rd rounder ?

Jameis could sign elsewhere, leaving TH and nothing behind him.

I typically don’t get too into who we should target in the draft until after free agency because so much can change. However, since there’s uncertainty around retaining Jameis, I’m leaning towards going full steam ahead with QB in the first round. With our financial situation having a QB on a rookie contract w/ 5th year option would be huge.
