But, what I have maintained is that the NFL remains the #1 draw on all of TV and consistently capture 7 of the top 10 viewed shows every week during the season. That's why the networks are going to bid for record high contracts coming up. It has already been shared that FOX will most likely increased their annual contract from $1.2 billion to $2 billion.

I based it off one metric; fantasy football participation was down. Most of them were saying they were down 20%. Just that alone it was going to drop before the season even started. Nothing to do with the China virus, BLM. None of that. Just this one metric. Why was it down? I do not know, assuming the virtue signaling but I was not basing it off that stance at all. I will say, it does look like the NFL dragged everyone through the virtue signaling as fast as they could then kicked over the tent immediately. None of that going on now. Horrible business course of action. Leave that stuff off the field where it belongs. Why we have to keep learning this lesson I do not know but sports does not mix with other aspects of society. People want to escape those aspects for a few hours. I don't want to see my work problems showcased to me on the weekend..meh. It would drive me insane. |
