Actually he IS an authority on the subject matter. His name is Tim Peeler. We worked on the same newspaper, The Technician, in the late 70's-early 80's. He was a sports writer with the Salisbury Post, The Greenville News, the Durham Herald-Sun, and the Triangle sports bureau at Greensboro News & Record. He also worked for the NC State Athletic Department. He shared this story about Wilson three days ago with a group of current and former NCSU media people of which I am a member. He was the editor-in-chief and slightly earlier I was photo editor of The Technician.

He said that this was his first encounter of many with the NCSU freshman, Russell Wilson, and was told about the food poisoning by Wilson himself. Tim added that he was on the team bus for the excursion. This is fairly common. I've been on buses with NCSU teams on several occasions.

D'oh is right, my friend. I'm not sure why you care, but Tim is also an accomplished author, winning several awards for his books on baseball and other subjects. I seriously think Tim has a degree of integrity when it comes to sharing stories.

When Tim tells others and myself something we have no reason not to trust him. I'm wondering what exactly is your problem.

Wilson's bout with food poisoning was as a freshman at NC State. That was years before he ever went to Seattle. I don't get the connection, but if it blows your skirt up, then fine.

The whole reference to the food poisoning was that he was so conscientious that he wanted to make the appearance even while ill and as a young man that hadn't played a snap yet for the team or school.

Uh..huh...sure. I sure you will not mind if i ask that Tim's name be used to verify the alleged RUMOR of Wilson having food poisoning but still wanted to participate....matter.
