Russell Wilson

May as well address this rumor.

First off, I don't think there is any way Seattle trades him. They were a playoff team this year, why blow it up?

Secondly, if he were up for trade, Seattle would want a HUGE haul for him. Something the Saints are not in position to give.

But, this is where the off season gets fun! Speculating.

Re: Russell Wilson

You addressed it by saying it all.
All points covered.
Cost in money, draft picks .....it would be a debt for Saints to take a few years to repay. Ans. No.
I like RWilson.

If you are going to address all the rumors surrounding a Saints QB and free agents then you might ant to take some vacation from work. This is officially off-season and there are thousands of hacks needing clicks on their blogs or channels.

I think Pistol Pete may want to invest in some lineman that can block.
R. Wilson is the franchise but he can't win running for his life all the time.
(although he used to)

I thought this was about Russ winning the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Was hoping Demario would win though.

Anyway, congrats to Russell Wilson. Seems like a genuinely well liked guy who gives back to the community.

I know some media people who knew him when he was at NCSU. He played baseball and football for the Wolfpack. One of my friends said that Wilson was really suffering from food poisoning his freshman year, yet still made a trip with some football teammates to visit with recovering wounded warrior project soldiers at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, NC. These are some personal shots my friend took back then.

Wilson transferred from NC State when coach Tom O'Brien told him he was replacing him with Mike Glennon as starter heading into 2011. That killed me when I found that out years later. I was always a huge Wolfpack fan and photo editor of the NCSU newspaper, The Technician, during the late 70's. What "could'a" been.

When I saw him win the Bart Starr award I knew Demario wasn't going to get the WP. He got the silver.

I love how the national narrative suddenly flipped from veteran QB's "not having enough young weapons" (Brady in NE, Rodgers) to QB's "not having enough OL protection" (Wilson).

14 isn’t elementary school and most people should know not to knock somebodies teeth out even if they are in elementary school. I’m not saying it’s a huge deal, just that I’m not a fan.

Actually he IS an authority on the subject matter. His name is Tim Peeler. We worked on the same newspaper, The Technician, in the late 70's-early 80's. He was a sports writer with the Salisbury Post, The Greenville News, the Durham Herald-Sun, and the Triangle sports bureau at Greensboro News & Record. He also worked for the NC State Athletic Department. He shared this story about Wilson three days ago with a group of current and former NCSU media people of which I am a member. He was the editor-in-chief and slightly earlier I was photo editor of The Technician.

He said that this was his first encounter of many with the NCSU freshman, Russell Wilson, and was told about the food poisoning by Wilson himself. Tim added that he was on the team bus for the excursion. This is fairly common. I've been on buses with NCSU teams on several occasions.

So who is actually the :dunce:?

Yep. The QB profession is just trying to increase their profile and leverage. Kind of like the TE-needs-to-be-paid-like-WR phenomenon a few years back. The market will settle on a middle ground, just don't expect all these shocking QB movements.

According to Pat Kirwan it won't even happen privately. Kirwan said this afternoon on his show, Moving the Chains, that he very recently had a private conversation with Wilson (probably in Tampa this past weekend) and this so called news couldn't be future from the truth. He said it's just the time of year where people are trying to invent news. He said that Wilson discussed the future plans with the team and his excitement moving forward. He gave no indication whatsoever of any displeasure with the Seahawks organization and said that there was less than a zero chance of Wilson going anywhere.

Surprise, right? This time of year you can't believe anything that doesn't come straight from the person's own mouth, and even then it can be edited out of context.

Agreed. From what I have read he is just upset with management for not investing in the offensive line and the team in general. Think about it, Seahawks made the playoffs this year with an O-line that allowed it's QB to be sacked 50 times. That tells you the core is there.

:bng:

Wilson's bout with food poisoning was as a freshman at NC State. That was years before he ever went to Seattle. I don't get the connection, but if it blows your skirt up, then fine. :D The whole reference to the food poisoning was that he was so conscientious that he wanted to make the appearance even while ill and as a young man that hadn't played a snap yet for the team or school.

Then he might really want to play here where we have a good O-line and strong defense.

Because I trust Tim and he has no reason to make that story up. He was told by Wilson himself that he was dealing with a case of food poisoning that morning, but wanted to make the visit with his football teammates. All I did was share an interesting anecdote from a friend and for some reason you choose to make some big deal out of it and questioned my integrity.

Tim simply shared this episode when Wilson was honored recently and I, in turn, shared the same here on this relevant thread.

I'm not sure what your problem is, but it makes you appear to be an jerk of sorts.
