Re: Saints DE Trey Hendrickson is going to 'be an attractive free agent for anyone,' GM Mickey Loomis says
Trey (Florida Atlantic) took a little longer to develop than Cam Jordan (Cal), though having an 6X ProBowl TE for a father and access to all those veterans is an advantage that can't be understated...
Also, Hendrickson has shared playing time with heavily draft-capital invested Davenport, but Trey has had his share of injuries, more to do with being undersized coming into the league... But a comparison of the first four year production is interesting... Cam Jordan 64 games, 120 Solo Tk, 50 QB Hits, 31 TFL, 29 Sk, 5 FF Trey Hendrickson 45 games, 47 Solo Tk, 43 Qb Hits, 18 TFL, 20 Sk, 3 FFAlso, keep in mind, Trey often lines up against the Left Tackle vs Cam Jordan who's lining up against the Right Tackle, with the exception of Ramczyk, how many elite RTs are in the NFL vs LTs? Cam was paid like an elite DE despite only solid numbers during his rookie contract; Trey compares favorably despite less games, some due to injury, some healthy scratches... One hit wonder? Maybe, but I doubt it. I'd draw more a line to Trey having Nielsen developing him... Don't know who'll we'll be able to afford, but losing both Trey Hendrickson and Marcus Williams will be costly... And I'd seriously consider getting a discount from Cam Jordan who's production took a serious nose dive this season... And I know this, we now have developed an elite DE, and he's in the house, now - so find a way to pay him now or pay another later...
