Remember that Dallas vs Saints game (2018) in Jerry's world? Saints were 10-1 at the time & the Cows had one of the better defenses. I was at that game and that Dallas secondary gave Thomas/Kirkwood & 3quan fits. Cows DB's harassed the hell out of our guys all night with physical play. Rod Marinelli was the DC however that was all Kris Richard dialing up plays & forcing Brees into a costly (he threw a late int to seal it) turnover on our last possession. We took an L.

But yeah I agree, this is a good hire for the Saints on the back end. I like the physicality & style Kris brings + his pass defenses have been good statistically. Not a lot of blown coverages on his watch.

Yeah I remember Buck & Troy gushing over this game and it was ugly..

In 2014, he played in four games with zero starts. Had a difficult time during the 2015 training camp and just was beat regularly in preseason games in 2015. He was released after the final 2015 preseason game. Four games, zero starts for a 2nd round pick. The Saints passed on wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Allen Robinson, offensive guard Trai Turner and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to select Jean-Baptiste.

I liked to forget the bust. It won’t be the last reach in Payton’s tenure.

Measurables alone have burned Payton time and time again, yet he doesn't learn. Davenport being one of the latest.

He's a gambler and he is going to win more than he loses when he moves up in the draft. It's why we have had such a strong roster. It will probably play out differently this year though and we'll move back. Our line men mostly come in the first round. We are good with our third round picks overall with productive 4th round players and UDFA's. And there is always someone there who slipped for whatever reason.

Too bad Clowney went on IR for the Titans!! He was going to personally win the Lombardi for us!

Remember how he wreaked havoc against the Packers? (Seattle lost as did the Titans)

I got dinged for pointing out his low sack total, not to mention how many games he's missed in his "career".

The USUAL LIST OF SUSPECTS, gush (they sit in a circle and.....) over 3 Spot and all his "Sacks".

Remember Albert Haynesworth in his "contract year" Turned 8.5 sacks into a $100 million $41 million guaranteed contract . Then went on to get 6.5 for the rest of his "career" $6.5 million a sack!!

Wait! I thought Sacks didn't matter that much? (See line 3)
It was pressures, hurries and hits.

A new face coaching the back end may be just the answer to our lack of focus in the secondary. Let's hope so anyway.
