I'm live in houma louisiana (I actually recently moved back home from mid-city in New Orleans just a few months ago.) The Houma Terrebonne Civic center has been a shelter and donation drop off location since the storm hit. I've been volunteering there for the past week and we have loaded two twenty five foot trailers with food, clothing, and medical supplies both to be sent directly to waveland over the past few days. I'm not certain, but I was told by officials that the first trailer load we sent was the first relief waveland had seen from anyone (red cross and fema included). It may not be much in the grand scheme of things, but I can assure you the public is doing all they can (or at least all they are being allowed to do). The governement needs to step it up a few more notches.
Good luck and god bless |
