Everyone is hung up on Qb but I’m more worried about filling the holes we have on our roster. It doesn’t matter who the Qb is if our defense goes to ****, we saw that with Brees when he was in his prime. Roll with Winston and start filling holes so if we do happen to hit on a franchise Qb in the next few years he has a team around him. If that guy is Winston I’m all for it, if not at least there will be some young talent on the roster to help out the next guy.

It certailnly is concerning to watch our D be dismantled as it is this off-season.

Now that you now have signed 30/30 at QB, since you plan on him being lower to middle of the pack, there has to be some other focus or plan for the Saints.

We just lost a team leader, a 70% completion QB that was able to help make up the delta of weak defenses over the years. You don't have that luxury with Winston. If he can't correct, bad judgment in the check down, it will be a long season.

I hope for the best

Don't want em to get your goat don't show em where it's hid.

What other options do you think the Saints front office should have explored based on our current situation as it pertains to the QB position post Brees & cap ? Maybe trade for Minshew? Fig Newton, Marcus Marriota or roll with Taysom? Or push all your chips forward in drafting a QB in the 1st rd of the upcoming draft?

Unfortunately for us Russ Wilson isn't an option in New Orleans.

It is easy to be critical from the sidelines and we probably played the best option we had. It is more a criticism of Winston as opposed to criticism of the front office

Why does everyone expect Winston to have exactly the same type of performance as the last time he was a full time starter? Is it because he's on the same team, with the same coaches, the same offensive line, and the same defense?

It took Brady 3/4 of a season to undo the damage in personnel, scheme, and coaching to turn the pirate ship around. There was lots and lots of bad judgement to spread around in the Bucs organization in 2019.

Payton's offense is predicated on have a multi layered passing game, always with an outlet, and simpler half field reads. It's designed to highlight the strengths of the QB and to minimize the weaknesses.

Winston demonstrated in his short stint in the 2nd half of the SF game that dumping the ball off to Kamara is a smart move that he's capable of pulling off.

So, I severely doubt that the Saints are planning on Winston being in the middle to lower tier of QBs in the NFL.

saintfan, gosaints1 and K Major like this.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

I think he learned as much as he could under Brees. I don't think that he doesn't have the talent or the arm I just think he's prone to make a lot of bad judgment calls and I don't think that can be fixed by watching a quarterback like Drew Brees for a year. Obviously, I could be wrong so could any of the detractors but so could all the people who are singing his praise right now.
