That would be assuming he wanted to sign with the Saints. From what I read several teams showed interest after he cleared waivers, but he wanted to play with Brady in Tampa Bay. The Saints could have claimed him off waivers but would have had to pick up his contract.

But I agree nonetheless that his contract would've been significantly higher. The point was merely for the battering ram size RB we signed vs how big Fournette is. Hopefully this new kid is worth it. | |
