I know Smash. Players jerseys just look weird with the new numbers available to them.

I think Callaway's #1 is the only number that hasn't been available to WR's for years. Just look back at our Lombardi season and our WR numbers - Henderson (19), Meachem (17), Colston (12), Roby (15), and Moore (16).

Don't know about other position groups, but Running Backs (e.g. Reggie Bush) should've been allowed to wear single digits or in the 30s...

CBs should be limited to the 20s and Safeties to the 40s...

LBs should be 50s; Defensive Linemen should be in the 90s...

IOL should be in the 60s and OTs should be in the 70s (especially for tackle-eligible plays)...

WRs should be in the 80s and teens; TEs should be in the 80s...

At the end of the, f' it, let chaos reign...

Update: Corrected Meant LBers in the 50s...

Just wondering...during any given play, how much attention do people think players on the field give to jersey numbers ?

I know you have heard either the QB or the center call out, "57's the Mike!" or something very close. I would imagine the numbers come into play when a player has responsibility for a specific opponent such as a CB that has a man assignment on a specific WR. Beyond that I really don't see much impact. I suppose the Mike could be "5" or the CB could follow #92 just as well.

The refs have hard enough time getting calls right with positional numbers. It will be interesting to see them add this detail and still get it right.

Not an argument JP, just wondering. Don’t you think a 3-4 with the old Dome Patrol LBs would be able to play into today’s league?

Not seen as an argument; Baun is a Rickey Jackson-type OLB and we drafted Baun running a 4-3 under, so it seemed a poor fit; Chris and I had discussed this in past threads...

But looks like Baun wants to be great in this league and unlike a moping LG who wanted to be paid like a LT, he's willing to get it done so he and the team will be great...

It's a great flip, development to his story; and now, SURPRISE, the LBers look to be a strength unit to this team...

But, yes, if you took that Dome Patrol, and put Akiem Hicks, David Onyemata, and Cam Jordan in front of them - that Defense would eat...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
