Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
Don't know about other position groups, but Running Backs (e.g. Reggie Bush) should've been allowed to wear single digits or in the 30s...
CBs should be limited to the 20s and Safeties to the 40s... LBs should be 50s; Defensive Linemen should be in the 90s... IOL should be in the 60s and OTs should be in the 70s (especially for tackle-eligible plays)... WRs should be in the 80s and teens; TEs should be in the 80s... At the end of the, f' it, let chaos reign... Update: Corrected Meant LBers in the 50s... |

Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
Just wondering...during any given play, how much attention do people think players on the field give to jersey numbers ?

Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
I know you have heard either the QB or the center call out, "57's the Mike!" or something very close. I would imagine the numbers come into play when a player has responsibility for a specific opponent such as a CB that has a man assignment on a specific WR. Beyond that I really don't see much impact. I suppose the Mike could be "5" or the CB could follow #92 just as well.

The refs have hard enough time getting calls right with positional numbers. It will be interesting to see them add this detail and still get it right.
