Spent the day wearing my kilt and drinking too much. I'm not Irish. I'm Scottish. When do we get our own day? I'm screaming discrimination now!

The Irish and the Scottish share a common Gaelic/Celtic heritage. The two lines of my ancestry on my mother's side, the McNeil's and McGirr's, both have ties to Scotland, as well as Ireland. Clan MacNeil, also known in Scotland as Clan Niall, is a highland Scottish clan of Irish origin. McGirr is a derivation of the Scottish MacGuire, which is an anglicized form of the Gaelic Mag Uidhir ‘son of Odhar’, with a parent house of Clan Conla. Therefore that side made the move in the other direction.

The tattoo on my right arm carries the old Gaelic saying meaning "A man who travels has stories to tell".
