On offense Reich went conservative on the play-calling after a very effective scheme of keeping the Ravens D off-balance, he admitted this...

On defense, Colts went prevent, why even bother taking the field if you're gonna spot an athlete like Jackson a head-start to sprint down the field...

Mora would do this, regularly, in big games against contenders...

It seemed that Vick only really cared about improving his passing in his second stint, in which he did improve a lot.

Lamar, to me, is light years ahead of where Vick was at that point.

I like Lamar but Vick fought dogs and to me he is scum of the earth. He may have gone to jail but I don't think I can forgive him for animal cruelty. I'm glad he's out of the league. Him and his stupid cousin were never that good. :brood:

Oh 100%, animal cruelty is something he'll never be forgiven for and never deserves to be. Dogs are some of the most loyal creatures on this planet and for him to do what he did was sickening.

The older I get the more I realize that I'm not as great as I'd hoped to become. The Messiah said "He who is without sin, cast the first stone". I was disgusted at the news of Vick and his treatment of animals but the man paid his price and made a valiant efffort at a return to football. Who am I told think or say that he deserves nothing better than an awful life for his transgressions?

Also, Aaron Brooks was a part of New Orleans first playoff win so he'll always have a special place in my heart. That win meant so much to me since they had a history of never living up to expectations. Stupid 49ers.
Haslett didn't do Brooks any favors, either.

Vick fought dogs, NO. What Mike did was allowed dog fighting to happen on property that he owned. Which is wrong. Mike kept his mouth closed to a lot of high profile people that also participated in dog fighting and fell on the sword solo. Remember when people came out and defended Vick e.g Clinton Portis and said “ that’s what we do in the hood”. As soon as things got serious, meaning jail time, no one said anything. Vick took the fall and didn’t name names.
The Queen of England races horses. When one is injured what do they do, Death is the solution. Death is Death, no matter how you get there.
The only difference in dog fighting and horse racing is a do-rag vs a fancy hat. Animals suffering at the pleasure of humans.
REMEMBER before I’m torn apart, I did say dog fighting is wrong.

This is the same as Bountygate vs the Eagle’s Gopher program.

As for Sam Darnold ...

Some Panther faithful are starting to accept him for who he is. An average NFL QB. 5 ints in 2 weeks is awful. He's facing a decent Minnesota defensive line today.

Sorry cmike, can’t agree with your horse racing/dog fighting take at all. Yes, injured horses are put down, but that’s hardly the same. We can start with the fact that one is legal, one isn’t. Horses, for the most part, are not hurt by racing them (they run all the time in pastures). Dogs are designed to be hurt by fighting them. There were stories of drowning and electrocuting dogs that did not meet standards at Vick’s place. That is not done to horses. Your comparison is like saying a fight between two professional boxers is the same as a bully beating the crap out of a weaker kid in a school bathroom.

Legality shouldn’t be the measuring stick. It’s people being entertained by a sport where animals are injured due to humans being entertained. Cannabis is legal in most states and not in some. Imagine being a inmate in Alabama on a Weed possession charge. That’s gotta suck.
Imagine being a Saint fan and your team and coach get penalized by a program that the entire league practices.
Horses are breed to be ran. Ain’t nobody breeding pitbulls to be family pets.

LEGAL. Alcohol prohibition never ended. The courts just stopped enforcing penalties and it forced the laws to be changed.

Dog fighting is wrong.

Well, legality was only one of the issues I brought up with your comparison. The main issues were one is an entertainment where the animals are guaranteed to get hurt and one is a remote possibility of getting hurt. And in vick’s case his animals were tortured with electrocution and drowning...racehorses are not. Although that does fit into the legality of the two “sports” as well.

Vick was wrong. He didn’t stop what he participated in and continued to allow it to happen. I served 8 years in the military special forces. A lot of families suffered by me following orders.

Darnold had a weird start to his rookie season. Since he plays for the enemy, I'll have to come up with an appropriate nickname for him.
Sixth Sense Sam seems appropriate but like his spleen the name is too big.
Quote:

A timeline of Sam Darnold’s increasingly weird injuries

Quote:

Weeks 3 and 5: The QB misses two more games due to his spleen enlarging from the mono
Week 7: Darnold loses a toenail against the New England Patriots
(This was the game that Darnold told the press that he was seeing ghosts on the field)
Quote:

Week 8: Darnold sprains his thumb against the Jacksonville Jaguars
Things didn’t get much better for Darnold the following week against Jacksonville. He threw for 218 yards and three interceptions in a 29-15 loss, and he was epically trolled by Jags fans for his seeing ghosts comment.
(The Jaguars played Ghostbusters on the PA throughout the game)

I watched the majority of that game on yesterday. His stats will say he “sucked” but boy those receivers sure didn’t help Sam on yesterday.

After the hot 3-0 start & the recent injury (IR) to CM …

Carolina is in trouble.

If Vic allowed dog fights on his property that is wrong and inexcusable. I firmly believe that he was watching and liking it if he allowed it to continue after he came in to money. To me that is simply unforgivable. Yes, I agree that people make mistakes in life and then pay the price then hopefully they do better. But there is something about cruel people that I can't forgive. It's a lowlife form of entertainment. jmho

As for racing and dog fighting, I'm an equestrian who spent many hours in the saddle and love to watch the horse run. I've seen one greyhound race and was disgusted because they don't get much medical or personal attention unlike horse owners who treat them like royalty. I felt degraded just watching. It's two different environments but way better than sadistic dog fighting where they don't get proper medical attention. I respect peoples opinions unless their dog fighters. :peace:

Watching Chiefs/Titans & Giants/Panthers ...

I'm debating on which QB is playing worse right now. Sam Darnold (6 ints) or Patrick Mahommes (9 ints). These guys are throwing INTs like crazy today  .

KC Chiefs - Spaggs defense is really, really bad.

Hey Smash,

They've benched Darnold today vs Giants. PJ is now under center for the Panthers. Mistake after mistake, throwing into triple coverage, picks, etc.

Daniel Jones looks just as bad.

Not sure how in the hell we lost to the Giants and Panthers.

Looks like the wheels have completely fallen off in Carolina. I’d love to see their fans talk all that sh*t now.

Re: Sam Darnold... should we?

The Panthers picked up Darnold’s fifth-year option for next season too where he’s owed a fully guaranteed $18.858 million. That’s not big money nowadays for a QB but that’s a lot of dead cap if they move on from him next year.

I'm glad we kept most of our picks and nabbed Book in the 4th round. Thank God we didn't do anything crazy like move up and get Fields. I don't know what anyone saw in him, he doesn't have the poise and committed bad turnovers with the Buckeyes too.

Way too early to throw in the towel on Fields. He needs proper coaching and Nagy is & has been an awful play-caller. Justin simply isn't ready yet. It happens. Steve Young, Aikman & Manning had horrible rookie seasons.

At this level, it takes time to develop a QB.

The same goes for Book.

I don't know if Pace is on the hot seat, however, it should be warm. If the Bears don't figure it out this season, both Ryan and Nagy could be gone.

Yesterday they simply looked like they had no business playing football. Overmatched & overwhelmed.

Romo and Nantz did all they could to keep us engaged but I checked out early.

Look at what MR. RIGHT WAY said a few years back......... but I'm not sold that Lions' QB Matthew Stafford is a winner...

After seven games with the Rams, Stafford ranks in the top five in several categories. He has passed for 19 touchdowns, second behind Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady’s 21. Stafford’s 2,172 yards passing ranks third behind Brady and Las Vegas’ Derek Carr.

Stafford has led the Rams to a 6-1 record heading into Sunday’s road game against the Houston Texans (1-6) at NRG Stadium.
