I try to stay away from giving my opinion on why an LSU player is better than the next guy. I prefer not to be labeled as having a bias.

I do believe Cox fits mold of the new breed linebackers needed in today's game.

He ran a sub 4.6. Cox is a freak athletically so his straight line speed more than likely is faster. Werner is plenty fast enough for the position. He wouldn't be able to drop back in coverage and cover a WR like Cox would be able to. That said, I wouldn't want Cox doing that either... hell, any linebacker period. The odds wouldn't be in their favor and that would just be bad scheming.

Hmm … these guys don't seem to be dialed in on him as a 2nd round selection huh?

Hopefully Werner is better than Anzalone & Baun. Especially taken that high in the draft.

Well, they keep saying they keep underestimating him. He was the most productive LB of the group at THE Ohio St U, and he plays all three spots.

Luke? I wouldn't go that far. I've read 4th/5th round grades on Werner. Eye ball test for me is meh. If he becomes a force I will say I'm wrong.

It's well past due for the Saints to hit on drafting a linebacker. It's been decades now …

Once again, the real people making the real picks are what determines the draft order. Not some outsider coming up with their order. If a team has 8 picks in the first three rounds and none after do they ignore a player they have targeted since before the draft because Mel McShay has him as a 5th rounder?

Does that make sense?

I still have high hopes for Baun, and I hope he along with Davis and now Werner will become a strenght of the defense.

...but to be honest I was a Shanle, Lofton and Anzalone apologist.

How do you know that? Neither has had an opportunity yet in the NFL. Seriously, how can any player be defined before playing at the highest level with proper coaching and training? :confused:

Don't know about Baun, however Coach Payton mentioned that he plans to work Pete Werner at the WILL, but has the ability to play MIKE.

But yeah, I'm really curious to see how Baun is used in 2021.

Not sure if you follow Kwon on twitter but he's constantly updating workout videos. He's progressing nicely.

I'm with you 100 though, in his short stint with New Orleans he was solid & I hope he's back with us in 2021.

Would've been interesting to see if we'd taken Cox with either pick in the 3rd including its last #105 (if we hadn't traded both to move up)
