Everyone is hanging on his jock. I'm not doing that. No way. He's had a good team around him before and didn't become some sort of super star.

He still ate W's, threw picks and was a bad decision maker.

I admit that he definitely adds a dimension to the offense that hasn't been there for a few years (arm strength) but I'll hold off on my excitement.

Sorry, I've never been a fan of Winston. Still am not. I hope he makes me one.

I haven't really seen a lot of posters here being totally enamoured by Winston. I think most of us know that he's made some terrible decsions on and off the field and we hope that he flips the switch from a spoiled prima donna athlete to a guy that behaves like a mature man.
We've read some thoughful responses from Winston that give us hope but he still acts like a large child once in a while.
I consider him Aaron Brooks 2.0 which isn't a terrible thing.

Being shipped out of Tampa, losing a large chunck of money, and spending a season with Drew Brees has to change him for the better, right?

We can only hope that Winston's new self exploration and revision is working and that he not only makes better decisions on the field but also off the field as well.
I can't fault people for being optimistic. He has a cannon for an arm and we haven't had a QB with arm strength in several years. Yeah yeah, I know that Drew was never known for his arm strength but for his accuracy, timing, and being a quick decision maker who doesn't make many mistakes.

I am slightly optimistic about Winston because Payton is known as the QB whisperer and Winston seems fully dedicated to improving himself. Fingers crossed.

Well, there is no right or wrong here. We all are hoping one of the Saints QBs steps up and has a fantastic year. That could be Winston, Hill, or Book based upon performance and injuries. As Saints fans we are all hoping for success at QB. Let’s say it happens and one of our QBs has a good/great year. I will ask these questions to us fans ; for who (whom?) are you pulling for
at QB, who is most likely to rise up, and does it matter which QB does?

I will give my answers. 1) I’m pulling for Winston to excel at QB and win the job.

2) I think he is most likely to win the starting job.

3) It matters because Hill is so good as
the jackknife player that if he was to become a Good QB, it would mean Winston becomes a backup again and the team loses a great running/catching threat out of the backfield. Just my thoughts since it’s down time

Myself,

Well, I’m hearing everyone and all have legit excitement or concern for Winston , but what I’ve learned from Hill is he doesn’t process the information of a read or progression fast enough to hit that receiver in that window, causing the line to collapse and he gets strip sacked ala philly game. He almost has to have a designed run to be successful in his role on this team. Hell if Winston fails in training camp I’ll pull for Swiss army but just don’t see it if Payton controls his asre from trying to make something out of nothing which was his failure and just check down like teddy we will be ok

Don’t drink the cool-aid. I won’t. In fact, if he is GIVEN the job, I predict he won’t keep it for six games. duh

$20 says he starts six games or more. Personally, I'm fully expecting him to start every game this season so it would be easy money.

I hope he can get his problems fixed and he starts a whole lot more than that as a winner.

Just curious why you think he would be GIVEN the job? They’ve paid Hill more money than Winston and Hill was the starter while Brees was out.

I honestly think his critics have more problems with Winston than does Winston himself. His only problems have been being on a very poor team with subpar coaching his entire career and then in his final year starting being in an offense that demanded taking chances downfield inviting interceptions. That final year he more than doubled his career average in interceptions to no surprise, yet was still second in the entire league in TD's and led the league in passing yards. All while being sacked one fewer time than the league leaders, Ryan, Wilson, and Murray.
