We have a top tier head coach but IMO Latavius has been criminally underutilized in the run game for New Orleans.

With a new QB under center, maybe this season will be different.

A lot of things will be different this season now that the Brees era is over.
The lack of usage of Murray was puzzling and I'm surprised he's still here.

If the L Train had been available for the Tampa Playoff game the Saints take the bucs for a third time.

Entirely possible, I think the Saints were/are the better team than the Bucs. But that game was singlehandedly decided by turnovers. A RB isn’t going to change CSP’s playcalling during what most were assuming to be Drew Brees final season. -4 in the turnovers for the game…, oof. All four of them leaving the Bucs with a very short field, 3 in our own redzone, iirc. And three leading to TD’s for the Bucs.

It amazes me the game was as close as it was for that long. 30-20 loss, but essentially we spotted the Bucs 21 points. I was proud of the way that team responded. I’m just not fully onboard with saying having a healthy RB, any healthy RB, would change CSP’s playcalling. If CSP didn’t “criminally underuse” him, to steal another’s phrasing, as the standard operating procedure, then I just might agree with you wholeheartedly.

I honestly believe that if SP committed to the running game like he often says he should, Pierre Thomas would be top 2 or 3 in Saints Rushing Yards for his Career.

Sean Payton's offense has always been predicated on what the defense shows at the line pre-snap. Sure, there have always been straight runs, and on the other hand, straight pass plays called, but the vast majority have had an option for Brees based upon what the defense is showing. That's what has made the offense the best in the league over the past decade and a half. It's also what made Brees the most prolific passer in the league over that same period of time. Perhaps things change now without Brees. We'll see.

Sean realized that he messed up not utilizing Murray more and will now lean heavier on the running game. I'm telling you folks it's gonna be a run heavy system this year especially without Drew as his best bet for winning

Sean must have reviewed Murray's film and decided that he would utilize Murray much more now since Drew isn't here to pull out last minute wins. Every time that Murray touched the ball he played like a feature back and Sean kept him knowing that he could have faith in him closing the game clock as a power runner. Throw in the talented Kamara too and then we throw less with whoever is the QB this season. A QB loves a good run game too.

It's going to be interesting to see if Murray even makes it to training camp. He and Patrick Robinson are very high on the list of possible cuts if additional salary cap space is needed.
