Calling Austin area Who Dats!
It turns out BostonSaint will be AustinSaint for a week or so while I am out here visiting family. Are there and Austin area fans out here?

Re: Calling Austin area Who Dats!
I used to be in that number. There is a fan base there. They usually meet at a bar downtown, Shoal Creek Saloon. It was fun for a while. But alas, all good things come to an end as one of the wait staff broke and stepped on my spectacles. And they refused to accept responsibility for it. So I never went back, when I lived there. Food is so so, compared to Louisiana.
There are others if you google for them. I recall Lavaca something or the other. I can't vouch for any other venues other than your typical sports bar with a million screens. There is one of those downtown Austin also. For a cool bar, The Mean Cat is pretty cool, a dive bar. Not sure if covid has affected any of them. |

Way to go to try and meet the members. I hope you find a fellow Who Dat for company.

Still enjoying Austin! Had some excellent. BBQ at Salt Lick and
enjoyed a baseball game at the Round Rock Express minor league AAA team. I’m here for another week if any Austin Saints fans are around! |
Re: Calling Austin area Who Dats!
If you can, try Franklin's BBQ and Stubb's downtown. Cooper's is also great. And don't forget to get you some Torchy's tacos whether breakfast or regular.
If you're in for a Hill Country ride, try Opie's in Spicewood. Dry Comal Creek Winery & Vineyards in New Braunfels, and drive to Wimberly for lunch. The Oasis isn't what it used to be, having now become a commercial monstrosity. The view is still great, however. The Elephant Room has good music too. The Texas museum by UT is awesome also. And the Texas Capitol, where you get to learn just why the Texas star is a five pointed star. |

Re: Calling Austin area Who Dats!
Just got back home from my trip. I spent most of the time in Round rock/Georgetown area. Although I Did get out to a cool spot called Moon Tower saloon off slaughter Boulevard exit and had a great time there. Ate some Torchy’s tacos, Salt Lick barbecue, had Cajun food (snapper topped with crawfish sauce) at a great place called Louisiana Longhorns ( Saints/LSU hangout in Round Rock), a great Mexican meal at a place called El Monumento. Got a round of golf in, and broke in some new throwing discs with my brothers at a shrimp boil. They make really cool light up frisbees/discs for nighttime playing BTW. my family lives off the 11th fairway of a golf course in a retirement community up there. We were throwing 6 discs around the fairway in pitch black at midnight having a blast! after eating a partying all day! Anyway we had a blast! Just an update to close out the thread.

Re: Calling Austin area Who Dats!
Made it back in Sunday from our trip to Tennessee to pick up the new car we bought and donate our old one to my son and his wife. We caught three of his shows (played at Miranda Lambert's new place twice), went to the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, toured the old Opry home of the Ryman Auditorium, and had some pretty good steak at Kid Rock's Steakhouse on Broadway.
I sure do want to go to the Titans game in November there if I can convince the wife. |
Re: Calling Austin area Who Dats!
I used to live in Chattanooga and traveled to Nashville on a regular basis to play rugby and enjoy the night life. There is always something to do even if it's disc golf after dark.

Yesterday around 2 p.m. or so, I went out for a 2-hour motorcycle ride. Temperatures were pleasant ... 75-78 degrees and partly cloudy. Fast forward today ... the temperature has dropped damn near 20 degrees. It's around 52 (chilly & windy) at the moment :brood:. North Texas weather is a trip. You never know what you're gonna get from day to day. Maybe things will be more predictable down I-35 in Austin. |

It's bit chilly today in Austin but it's been warm lately. The weather should be great during the day and cold at night this weekend.
