Hope not. Like the Adebo pick and the depth we have behind him. Let that youngster play and get better right away...

I'd rather invest our limited cap space and make a run at WRz Golden Tate...

Dude there is reason he isn't signed yet. Please no Sherman. Colossal waste of cap room.

You are assuming he wants to play in New Orleans. I heard him in an interview earlier this week and he mentioned some teams and/or scenarios that he would be interested in joining. The Saints were not among them. Free agency is always a two way street. It requires the player's desires as well as the team's. I was hoping the Saints would have been named, however.

Depth? Sorry I don't see it. I wouldn't rule out the Saints attempting to make a trade for a #2 CB either. Names that make sense in FA are Nelson, Sherman or former 1st rounder Conley. No secret we love "The Ohio State" players & all of these guys fill a serious need.

I'm not in the camp for relying on a rookie aka Mr. Mansfield. Remember this kid hasn't played football in almost 2 seasons. The NFL is a pass happy league now. If he loses confidence, it's over. Not sure if that's fair to him either.

Personally, I don't care who they sign but we need another veteran corner on those boundaries.

Same depth we had couple of seasons; if it was good enough to be considered a Superbowl contender, why not now?

Janoris Jenkins isn't here anymore. I agree that we need a veteran corner.

Agreed, equating an unknown in Adebo with a known in Jenkins, as a reason for not filling the CB2 with a veteran worries me quite a bit. But the “depth” jp is talking about is pretty much the same. I’m on record for saying “play the young guys you draft” but a corner’s psyche can be a finicky creature. If he’s demonstrably ready, then play him, if not…, I’d prefer to not have the ‘let’s hope for the best’ philosophy and instead find a solid veteran CB2. And it will more than likely be too late the longer we wait.

I’m still of the mindset that our three greatest needs are on the defensive side of ball.

1) Janoris Jenkin’s replacement

2) Kwon Alexander’s replacement

3) Malcolm Brown’s replacement.

Adebo is well thought of though:

Can't be veterans if they don't play; we're strong at a number of positions on defense right now and that's an opportune time to phase a rookie into the lineup...

Think of it as taking one step back to take two steps forward...

I think the ship has sailed for Sherman, once the calf and achilles injuries start piling up it's starts the beginning of the end.

Richard Sherman arrested on domestic violence charge in Seattle, denied bail .

I'm gonna go and scratch Sherman off the list of possible FA "candidates" for the Saints.

After looking over the list of available corners, I’d sign Gareon Conley. Pair him back up with Lattimore.

From what I've read Conley would best suit DA's system of the remaining CB's out there. I've actually been hoping we would sign him over Sherman. It's still quite likely that we bring in someone after cuts but that's not very reassuring. We need to get a deal done with Lattimore because he's good and will hopefully continue to trend up but also the cost savings would let us afford a critical player or two.

Dre Kirkpatrick stopped in for a visit a few weeks back so ...

CB#2 competition (or lackthereof) will be very interesting as camp approaches. Not to mention we won't have Lattimore for a few games to start the season.

Here's to hoping our pass rush brings their A game.

We don't know this yet. I have yet to see any further pursuit of any prosecution from Ohio as of yet.

Lattimore could be cleared of the charges no doubt.

But don't forget the Clown commish. I hadn't read any updates out of the NFL personal conduct policy as of late, however they can still take action (suspension) even if he does not result in a criminal conviction.

Perhaps, but Goodell's early method of shooting from the hip on discipline has mellowed recently to wait and see. It could be a year from now before anything at all happens in the courts with Lattimore. This could be more of a 2022 issue if it results in an issue at all.

Of course, it may just be the eternal optimist in me. It's got me to this point in my life so I'll just keep rockin' it.

:D

It seemed like he was winging it when disciplining teams last year regarding the "Covid Protocols".

Let's wait until final cuts, shall we? There has to be some depth we can pick then, whether young talent or a veteran.

Know Flores is from the Belichick Coaching Tree with the mantra that all are replaceable, but they'd be fools after their improvement for the Fish not to pay him...

You pay Elite Quarterbacks and Shut-down Cornerbacks - it is what it is...
